A Ni-Cr-Mo alloyed submerged arc welding (SAW) wire depositing weld metal of NiCr15Mo16Fe6W4 type. It is particularly suitable for joint welding and cladding of Hastelloy C276 and similar highly alloyed nickel-base materials. It provides high corrosion resistance in a wide range of acids and salts under oxidizing and especially reducing conditions. It also offers excellent resistance to crevice corrosion and pitting in seawater, as well as to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. In addition to fabrication welding of C276-type alloys, the weld metal has good tolerance to dilution with most ferrous and high-nickel alloys, making it suitable for dissimilar welding and cladding applications. It is also suitable for buffer, surfacing and cladding layers where corrosion resistance, strength and toughness are required. Due to its very high toughness even at temperatures below -196°C, it is also preferred for welding 5-9% Ni cryogenic installations. It has a wide range of applications in the chemical and pulp and paper industries, waste recovery plants, natural gas recovery applications and cryogenic environments. It is also preferred for applications involving dynamic loading conditions and requiring high elongation properties.
