A Ni-Cr-Mo alloyed submerged arc welding (SAW) wire depositing weld metal of Ni-22Cr9Mo3.5Nb type. It is used for joint welding and cladding of Alloy 625, 825 and similar nickel alloys with high corrosion resistance. Owing to its high toughness at low temperatures down to -196°C, it is preferred for welding cryogenic nickel alloys such as X1NiCrMoCuN25-20-7. In sulfur-free atmospheres, the weld metal is resistant to scaling up to 1200°C in sulfur-containing atmospheres, the weld metal can be used at temperatures up to 500°C. It provides high resistance to stress corrosion cracking as well as excellent resistance to pitting corrosion in phosphoric acid, organic acids, seawater and highly contaminated environments. The weld metal also offers high resistance to cracking and thermal shock. It is used for joining dissimilar stainless steels, different nickel alloys, stainless steels to low-alloy steels, or nickel alloys to steels for applying buffer, surfacing and cladding layers on steels with poor weldability and for repair welding of these alloys.
